I've been making music for more than two decades, both as a solo artist (the Baltimore City Paper once called me “Baltimore’s Best Singer/Songwriter,” what feels like a lifetime ago) and with friends in various bands. Links to some highlights are below:
Music I’ve released under my own name can be heard at austinstahl.net. Home-recorded tunes, with me playing almost everything. Originally I recorded exclusively on a cassette 8-track, but later I joined the 21st century and incorporated a computer.
My latest release is the six-song EP Waste Places,1 out now!
My previous LP was Austerity,2 an album of short instrumental pieces, made from repetitive rhythms and interlocking melodies.

Reforester (2018–2020): Three singers, three writers, lots of three-part harmonies. Our mini-album Perpetuity3 can be heard here.
Mink Hollow (2012–2015): I was one of four singers/writers in this band. Two of my favorite songs of mine are on the Ghostwriting EP,4 including the title track.
Small Sur (2007–): Spare, lovely folk tunes penned by my friend Bob Keal. For years I played drums and toured all over and helped record several of the band’s albums. The most recent of those was Labor.5
Private Eleanor (2001–2007): My indie-pop band and main preoccupation in the ’00s. Lots of music and stuff to dig into at privateeleanor.com.
